Happy President’s day

Today, we celebrate Presidents Day. We reflect on our president’s successes and failures, and we honor the Presidents who sacrificially and courageously served our nation.

All of our nation’s presidents had flaws. Non were perfect men. Even so, their lives and leadership have relevant lessons for us today. While right now our nation is so divided along party lines, we need to remember we are a nation like no other in the world. A nation of people with more freedom than any where else in the world. So please keep your sense of humor. Share a smile instead of a glare. Tell a joke instead of spreading gossip. Hug rather than hit.

“Were it not for my little jokes, I couldn’t bear the burden of this office.”

Abraham Lincoln

“In my final year, my approval ratings keep going up. The last time I was this high, I was trying to decide on my major.”

Barack Obama, at the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Assn. Dinner

“I hope you’re all Republicans.”

Ronald Reagan, looking up at his physicians after being shot by a would-be assassin in 1981
